has

Heart

Living
Heart
Diet,

list.
She
appears
frequently
on
television,
has
done
numerous
radio
interviews,
and
is
regularly
quoted
in
the
press.
She
conducts
research
studies
with
hyperlipidemic
patients
who
are
overweight
and
have
elevated
blood
glucose
levels.
She
is
responsible
for
the
nutrition
component
of
the
General
Clinical
Research
Center.
She
is
a
consultant
at
the
Center
for
Collaborative
and
Interactive
Technologies
at
Baylor
and
serves
on
advisory
boards
outside
Baylor.
She
has
a
private
practice
and
enjoys
working
with
individuals
who
have
elevated
cholesterol
and/or
triglyceride
levels,
high
blood
pressure,
elevated
blood
glucose,
and
also
those
who
need
to
lose
weight.
She

their

and

She
completed
a
dietetic
internship
at
Indiana
University
Medical
Center
and
has
a
master's
degree
in
Nutrition
Education
from
Indiana

and
Nutrition
was
earned
at
Texas
Tech
University
in
Lubbock,
Texas.
Christie
Ballantyne,

Dr.
Christie
Ballantyne
received
his
doctorate
in
medicine
from
Baylor
College
of
Medicine,
Houston,
Texas
in
1982,
where
he
is
currently
Professor
in
the
Department
of
Medicine.
He
completed
his
residency
training
at
the
University
of
Texas
Southwestern
Medical
School,
Dallas,
Texas.
Dr.
Ballantyne
completed
a
fellowship
in
clinical
cardiology
and
was
selected
as
a
fellow
for
the
American
Heart
Association/Bugher
Foundation
Center
for
Molecular
Biology
in
the
Cardiovascular
System
from
Baylor
College
of
Medicine.
His
current
academic
appointments
include
Professor,
Department
of
Medicine
with
a
joint
appointment
in
the
Section
of
Leukocyte
Biology,
Department
of
Pediatrics,
Baylor
College
of
Medicine
and
he
is
Director,
Center
for
Cardiovascular
Prevention,
at
the
Methodist
DeBakey
Heart
Center
and
Co-Director,
Lipid
Metabolism
and
Atherosclerosis
Clinic,
at
the
Methodist
Hospital.
Dr.
Ballantyne
is
an
Established
Investigator
of
the
American
Heart
Association
and
has
several
NIH
grants
to
study
leukocyte-endothelial
adhesion
molecules
and
novel
markers
for
atherosclerosis.
He
has
over
100
publications
in
the
area
of
atherosclerosis,
lipids
and
inflammation.
He
is
an
Associate
Editor
for
Circulation
and
Journal
of
Cardiovascular
Risk
as
well
as
Editor
for
www.lipidsonline.org.
Dr.
Ballantyne
presently
serves
as
Governor
of
the
Texas
Chapter
of
the
American
College
of
Cardiology.
Peter
Howard
Jones,
MD
Peter
H.
Jones,
MD,
has
been
a
leader
in
cardiovascular
research
and
in
the
training
of
future
physicians
for
most
of
the
last
20
years.
He
is
Associate
Professor
of
Medicine,
Section
of
Atherosclerosis
and
Lipid
Research
at
Baylor
College
of
Medicine.
He
is
Medical
Director
of
the
Institute
for
Preventive
Medicine
Obesity
Program.
Dr.
Jones
earned
a
degree
in
medicine,
completed
an
internship
and
residency,
and
attained
a
faculty
appointment
at
Baylor
College
of
Medicine.
He
is
board-certified
in
Internal
Medicine.
In
addition
to
his
active
clinical
practice
in
a
referral
lipid
clinic
and
in
research,
he
participates
in
several
academic
and
advisory
committees.
Dr.
Jones'
research
has
focused
on
hyperlipidemia
in
heart
transplant
patients,
LDL
apheresis,
clinical
endpoint
trials
with
statins
and
evaluating
the
efficacy
and
safety
of
statin
and
other
lipid
altering
drugs.
His
work
has
been
presented
in
over
60
articles,
abstracts
and
book
chapters.
He
has
also
served
as
chairman
of
the
Morbidity
and
Mortality
Review
Committee
for
the
Lipoprotein
Coronary
Atherosclerosis
Study
(LCAS)
as
a
member
of
the
Interdisciplinary
Council
on
Lipids
and
Cardiovascular
Risk
Intervention
and
on
the
steering
Committee
of
the
Air
Force
Texas
Coronary
Atherosclerosis
Prevention
Study
(AFCAPS/TexCAPS).
Dr.
Jones
is
currently
a
Fellow
with
the
Council
on
Arteriosclerosis
for
the
American
Heart
Association.

Lisa
R.
Balick
is
a
clinical
psychologist
in
private
practice
in
Houston,
TX,
a
Clinical
Assistant
Professor

Baylor
College

Medicine,

Psychiatry
and
Behavioral
Sciences,
and
an
Adjunct
Assistant
Professor
at
University
of
Texas,
Department
of
Psychiatry.
She
received
her
Bachelor's,
Master's
and
Doctoral
degree
in
Clinical
Psychology
from
Florida
State
University,
completing
her
doctoral
training
in
1982.
She
did
her
psychology
internship
at
Baylor
College

Medicine

Fellowship
in
Preventive
Medicine

Hospital's

Medicine.
Dr.
Balick
specializes
in

disorders,
stress-related
disorders,
chronic
illness,
loss
&
grief,
abuse,
and
addictions.
In
addition
to
her
private
practice,
Dr.
Balick
trains
and
supervises
psychology
trainees,
lectures
extensively
on
eating
disorders,
and
has
been
a
psychological
consultant
for
Weight
Watchers
International
and
for
Methodist
Hospital's
Diet
Modification
Program.
